Saint John the Baptist Church is a Roman Catholic Church of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown serving the residents of Summerhill and the surrounding area. We are situated in Cambria County between the Pennsylvania cities of Johnstown, Route 219 South, and Ebensburg, Route 219 North, and two miles from the Pennsylvania towns of Wilmore, Route 53 East, and South Fork, Route 53 West.

Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church is a parish of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, but it has been and continues to be staffed by the Benedictines from Saint Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Saint Vincent Archabbey is the first Benedictine monastery in the United States.

Saint John’s Parish, Summerhill, dates back to the turn of the century when Catholics, because of the town’s proximity to the railroad, began to move into the neighborhood in significant numbers to warrant organizing a church here. Since the laying and blessing of the church’s cornerstone on May 24, 1903, Saint John’s continues to grow from the original 70 families.

Prayer for Our Parish
